This year’s Stroud Film Festival brings us an inspirational season of stories from all over the world, from Iran to Nigeria, from new directors to seasoned storytellers - films that challenge, inspire, explore and entertain.

Some films are commercial, some experimental, others experiential. All have, at their heart, the common desire to communicate our world to an audience.

We need stories – maybe more than ever right now. They help us make sense of the world, they enable us to create order in our lives, to wrestle with the complexities of what it is to be human, and to work out how to live together - with all our differences – and in harmony with our fragile landscape.

The Stroud Film Festival - curated by a passionate local team, and hosted in a wide range of outstanding venues – gives us the opportunity to enjoy the sheer pleasure of sitting together in a darkened space, to lose ourselves in other worlds, and to walk in the shoes of characters that range from Marc Bolan to roller skaters, from nurses singing in Finland to pirates, farmers and weavers…and to so much more.

I hope you will have the opportunity to see as many of these stories as possible brought to you by the fabulous Stroud Film Festival 2024
